So the thing is that we want to make our festival more inclusive, diverse and open.
On the one hand we have to set our prices in a way so that we can keep on creating the festival. That is literally our only financial goal. We are fully vouluntary based but are confronted with high infrastructure cost since we are located in a park with no running water or electricity... so we can’t offer everybody huge discounts - even tough we wanted to.
On the other hand it is very important for a society to make different forms art and culture accessible to all people - by charging money for our festival we basically exclude people who struggle to make ends meet. Ultimately, these two conditions result in a conflict of interest. The solution is to reduce the price for some individuals but this displays a new problem: whom to offer the discounts to.
Additionally, it is well known that groups that are formed by individuals with different points of view and backrounds, are genarally happier and more effective in the long run. Thus, a useful proxy in this case is geographic origin.
This is why 2024 we reduce ticket prices for all refugees and people with the status of a displaced person by 80%. As soon as you show us a valid passport from an affected nation (Ukraine, Palestine, Sudan, Russia, Yemen, ...) at the ticket office you can enter for € 20. Additionally you will receive vouchers for a meal and a drink of your choice upon entry. Alternatively you can show us your “Aktiv-Pass”. This also qualifies you for the reduced price.
The price is for the festival-pass, so you pay once and can join the whole festival, all the concerts, movies and other pieces of art. Unfortunately we can’t offer the reduced price online so you’ll have to buy your tickets irl. The ticket office will be located next to the festival entry at the “Rodlgelände Ottensheim”.
The Active-Pass-Discount is an offer for all those who have difficulties managing such a festival financially. We would like to thank everyone for whom it is reasonable to purchase a regular card in paying the normal price. You make such offers possible, ensure better cooperation and thus guarantee our continued existence as a non-profit organization.
By the way: all people under the age of 14 can enter free of charge. So as long as you are born after the 12th of July 2010 you’re good to go. However, you need to be at home at 10 pm - so at around 9:30 our staff will ask you to leave if you don’t have your parents with you. Everyone between the age of 14 and 18 only has to pay half the price.
